Over 10,000 hours spent restoring 56.88 acres of kelp forest off Palos Verdes to sequester carbon, increase biodiversity, and mitigate ocean acidification
3,200 endangered white abalone cultured and released in the ocean to recover this species from extinction
1 community garden established in Inglewood to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables
3 community compost bins established in Inglewood, Gardena, and Lawndale to recycle organic food waste, prevent methane emissions, and build healthy soil
10,000 pounds of invasive iceplant removed at the Malibu Living Shoreline Project sites, replaced with 700 native plants to build dune systems and support migrating birds and wildlife
6 acres of beach restoration and living shoreline demonstration projects that recreate a lost landscape that provides natural protection from coastal erosion and flooding
34.5 tons of invasive iceplant removed from the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve to allow for the recovery of native plants, improve water quality, flood protection, and wildlife sanctuary
Thousands of community volunteers activated to restore the largest remaining coastal dune system in southern California, the LAX Dunes
3,000 plus boaters annually educated to prevent sewage, oil, and marine debris from polluting our ocean
Over 300 students from 60 universities spent over 25,000 hours participating in research with TBF and Loyola Marymount University (LMU) to advance coastal research and restoration planning
Co-established the Coastal Research Institute at LMU, informing national, state, and regional planning with science-based advocacy
